Luther King earned his Master of Occupational Therapy in 2008 from 91ɬÂþ (CSU) and a Post Professional Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Governors State University (GovState) in 2016. In 2017, was a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Florida primarily involved in research in his specialized area of Occupational Therapy practice, driver rehabilitation. In this position, Dr. King supported grants geared toward returning combat veterans and developing a driver rehabilitation program that served Gainesville, FL. area. In May of 2020, Dr. King became an Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at GovState. As an instructor Dr. King believes in a pedagogy of caring which facilitates connection with students leading to a continuum of care when students become practitioners. He enjoys collaborating with others which is reflected in his collaborative efforts across disciplines. Dr. King values his service and is active in committees at various levels internally and externally and is leader on state and national organizational committees. Dr. King’s research interests have revolved around driver rehabilitation which has led to publications in peer reviewed journals and presentations at local and national conferences. Dr. Luther King desires to develop a community-based driver rehabilitation program to support student knowledge and experiences and to enhance community mobility for medically at-risk drivers. Currently Dr. King is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy at CSU (CSU OT), his alma mater. He aspires to lead the CSU OT program to be a prominent program in the Chicagoland area that supports faculty and produces students who are competent, professional, leaders, and agents of change in the communities they serve.

In 2020, Dr. King joined Governors State University as an Assistant Professor, emphasizing a pedagogy of caring to foster meaningful student connections and collaborative learning across disciplines. His research in driver rehabilitation has resulted in peer-reviewed publications and presentations at local and national conferences. He is actively engaged in service at institutional, state, and national levels, holding leadership roles on professional committees.
Dr. King serves as Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy at CSU, his alma mater. His vision is to position CSU’s OT program as a leading force in the Chicagoland area, producing competent, professional, and community-focused practitioners. He also aims to develop a community-based driver rehabilitation program to enhance student learning and improve mobility for medically at-risk drivers
